Description
French 3 Course Overview
This class is approved by the NCAA.
This class is part of the MyFunScience live online homeschool classes, which provide structured instruction for middle school and high school students. Families can explore all of our foreign language courses for homeschool students.
This live online French 3 class continues the strong Comprehensible Input foundation established in French 1 and French 2. Students expand fluency, deepen comprehension, and begin working with more advanced structures while maintaining a meaning-first approach.
After more than 20 years of teaching foreign languages, this course blends proven classroom experience with the Comprehensible Input (TPRS) approach to language learning. Instead of focusing primarily on memorizing grammar rules and vocabulary lists, students learn through engaging stories, conversation, and reading they can easily understand. This approach helps students naturally build comprehension, confidence, and the ability to communicate in the language.
This method equips every learner — from gifted students to those with dyslexia — for success.
In French 3, grammar grows deeper and more precise. Students work confidently with present, multiple past tenses, future, conditional, imperative, and increasingly sophisticated subjunctive structures — always grounded in comprehension before analysis.

Course Structure & Expectations
Students should plan on 30–40 minutes of work each day, four days per week, in addition to the live class session.
Students work with advanced materials and read one to three novels entirely in French, increasing in complexity and depth. Additional listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities strengthen overall fluency.
Scripture memory, praise songs, hymns, contemporary music, cultural studies, and food and traditions continue to enrich the class. In French 3, Bible reading is often introduced during the second semester for students ready for that level of engagement.
Parents: Please contact the instructor if your student has dyslexia or other learning differences.
