Ancient Biblical History Course Overview
This class is part of the MyFunScience online homeschool classes, which offer live instruction for middle and high school students.
This online Ancient Biblical History course for high school students immerses learners in the world of biblical archaeology, helping them experience the lands of the Bible through archaeological discoveries, ancient artifacts, and historical research first revealed in God’s Word. Through engaging, live online instruction, students explore how entire civilizations—once considered myths—have been uncovered and confirmed, including Israel, Egypt, Babylon, and the Hittites.
Students will investigate key topics such as how archaeologists reconstruct the past, why everyday artifacts like pottery can reveal more than treasure, and the challenges of accurately dating ancient findings. As they journey through history, they encounter influential figures like Tutankhamen, Hatshepsut, and Cleopatra, while exploring the pyramids, temples, and cities of ancient Egypt and the biblical world.
Special focus is given to the history of Israel, guiding students through significant periods, including times of kingdom, division, exile, and restoration. By examining archaeological evidence alongside Scripture, students gain a deeper understanding of the Bible as a reliable historical record.
In addition to building a strong foundation in ancient history and biblical studies, students develop essential academic skills such as critical thinking, historical analysis, and evidence-based reasoning. This course encourages students to see how ongoing discoveries continue to illuminate and support the accuracy, context, and significance of the Bible. Students who enjoy this course often pair it with Old Testament Survey for a broader overview of the Old Testament.
