This class is approved by the NCAA.

This class is part of the MyFunScience live online homeschool classes, which provide structured instruction for middle school and high school students. Families can explore all of our foreign language courses for homeschool students.

This live online German 4 class builds upon the advanced foundation established in German 3. Students strengthen advanced grammar, literary analysis, and conversational fluency while earning high school foreign language credit in this advanced homeschool German course.

German 4 represents the final level of a four-year high school German sequence, following German 1, German 2, and German 3.

Students engage deeply with historical, artistic, literary, and political themes while strengthening grammatical precision and stylistic fluency. Through discussion, analysis, and structured composition, students move toward confident, sophisticated communication in German.

Course Structure & Expectations

This is an advanced high school course requiring consistent preparation and independent study.

Students should plan to spend approximately 45–60 minutes per weekday on reading, writing, and review.

Class discussions focus heavily on interpretation and analysis, and active participation is expected.

Complete German Program

This class is part of the MyFunScience German program, a sequence of live online homeschool classes that guide students from introductory German through advanced language study.

Many students complete several levels as part of their high school foreign language studies.


German National Honor Society Opportunity

Students enrolled in the MyFunScience German program may be eligible for induction into the German National Honor Society (Delta Epsilon Phi), sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG).

Students who complete at least three semesters of German and maintain strong academic performance may be invited to join the MyFunScience chapter of the honor society. Membership recognizes excellence in German language study and provides an achievement students may include on their high school transcripts.

  • Minimum of three semesters of German study
  • 3.3 GPA (87%) or higher in German coursework
  • 3.0 overall GPA

Each spring, eligible students are invited to participate in an online induction ceremony. Inducted students receive an official certificate and a gold seal that may be added to their high school diploma. After induction, students may also purchase honor cords for graduation through the AATG store.

A small induction fee helps cover honor society dues and mailing of certificates.

Faith Cruz

Faith Cruz - Teacher - MyFunScience.com

Faith Engroos Cruz is a former adjunct professor at Duke University who has a passion for language and learning. After graduating from Furman University, she was awarded a coveted Fulbright Teacher's Fellowship, which afforded her the opportunity to spend a year living and teaching in Austria. At the end of the year, she returned to the US, where she completed a master's degree in German.

Faith has taught for thirty-five years, including sixteen years of teaching German and ten years of teaching in an online setting. Along with her love for German music and culture, she has a nerdy love for grammar.

As a homeschool mom, Faith Cruz has graduated three children and currently homeschools the last one. She is actively involved in her local church, where she works with the care team and leads a Bible study. When not working with students to develop their love of language, she enjoys reading, swimming, and spending time with friends.
