Digital Literacy: Tech Skills for Life Course Description
This Digital Literacy course empowers students with the digital fluency and life skills needed to succeed in school, work, and everyday life.
Fall Semester:
Students will explore foundational computing concepts. Topics include the basics of hardware and software, networks, the internet, digital communication, cybersecurity, and ethical technology use. Through interactive lessons and real-world scenarios, students will gain a deeper understanding of how technology works and how to use it responsibly.
Spring Semester:
The focus shifts to hands-on mastery of Microsoft Office tools—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneDrive. Students will complete practical tasks such as formatting resumes and business letters, building budgets, designing presentations and reports, and managing digital files and calendars. Career readiness and personal productivity are emphasized throughout, with projects that help students organize their digital lives and prepare for future opportunities.
By the end of the course, students will be equipped with both the conceptual knowledge and technical skills to navigate today’s digital landscape with confidence, purpose, and ethical awareness. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software is required for this class.
