An ever-expanding universe of graphic design solutions surrounds you!

Graphic designers create digital worlds; communicate to mass audiences through complementary combinations of words and images; can flip from information to promotion; motivate people to take actions; design websites, book covers, social media films, posters, mobile apps, and lots more.

This online course provides a comprehensive reference on design for print and screen media. It introduces the principles of design and how they apply to the various design disciplines. The class provides a solid foundation for typographic design, advertising design and graphic design. In-depth coverage includes such topics as design principles, the design process, concept generation, branding and visual identity, design for web and mobile, package design, portfolio development, social media, ad campaigns and more.

This course has everything you need to know to start formulating concepts and creating powerful, effective visual messages.

Required Materials

  • Students will be supplied with PowerPoints, handouts, videos, etc.
  • We will use free software on the internet like Photopea, Pixlr, and Fotor.

Anna Pollard

Anna Pollard began her professional career in the graphic and web design industry as a Creative Director in the field of Informational Technology. She has a AAS in Commercial Art and Advertising Design, a BA in Computer Science, and a Masters degree in Business and Marketing.

After 15 years of professional IT work, she made a career change to share her technology knowledge with students and began a career in teaching for many years.

Anna is married, has a 27 year old son whom she also home schooled, and who is now a chef at a French restaurant.

Anna has adopted/rescued multiple cats and two horses. In her spare time, she helps with the horses at Love of Lacey Equine rescue in Bunn Level, NC. She is also a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America and creates colored pencil art work for show at local art galleries.
