Description
World History Course Description
This class is approved by the NCAA.
This World History high school level course covers World History chronologically from creation to the present. Mrs. Coffey uses archaeological finds, virtual museum tours, world travel experience, biographies and more to bring world history to life for students. This is not a dry, boring history class!
A world history textbook is used as the base for the class to give an excellent foundation for the live classes. Students will also make a timeline throughout the year to see the overlapping of events, people, and places in world history. Students will be required to read one historical fiction or biographical book each quarter. This is intended to place the student into the time period to “feel” and “see” what it was like to live during this period. Students are given a list of books to choose from. Alternate assignments are available for students with dyslexia.
Students complete open book reading quizzes for each chapter, a unit test for each unit, and various projects throughout the year. Students are not required to write research papers or essays for this class; however, some very light research may be needed for various projects.
Interactive In-person Class
This is a lively, interactive in-person class, not dry, boring history! Students are expected to interact during class with comments and discussions.
