Spanish 3 (with a Difference)

Marji McIlvaine
Wednesday 9AM (ET)

Spanish 3 Course Overview

This class is approved by the NCAA.

Spanish 3 continues where Spanish 2 finished. This year, we finish the blue book and PERHAPS begin Excelerate Spanish, Book 2 — depending on the amount of out-of-the-book-material we do.

While the method is the same as for Spanish 1 and 2 with a Difference, we add some focused grammar study, advanced tense usages, more challenging reading, and culture as the student advances and matures in understanding and being able to communicate. During the second semester, IF the student is ready, we also begin reading the Bible.

Students who are new should read a more detailed description of the method in the Spanish 1 or 2 descriptions. A brief placement assessment will be administered so that we can give your student the best opportunity to succeed in Spanish.

Thank you so much for all that you’ve done this year and for how much you’ve helped me learn! This Spanish class has been LEAPS and BOUNDS better than the last one that I tried, and didn’t have me crying almost every day like the last one! Thank you thank you thank you! You make learning the language seem like an achievable thing!

Thank you so much for all the effort you put into my class this past year. It was my favorite Spanish class I’ve ever taken, and I feel like I have such a deeper understanding of Spanish.

Novels for the 2023-2024 school year will be posted by July 31st.

Marji McIlvaine

Marji McIlvaine (and her husband Rick) homeschooled their six children from K-12, even though she was just going to “try it for one year” with her first five-year-old. The children are all graduated and several are college graduates (2 Magna Cum Laude, 1 Summa Cum Laude). Some of the children are in college now, and some are in the work force, each one walking a God-directed pathway.

Marji has a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Florida, with graduate hours in linguistics and testing and assessment (ECU). Marji began her college career as a pre-veterinary major and garnered many college hours enjoying science.

Growing up in south Florida, she went to SeaCamp in the FL Keys where her passion for marine science was ignited through snorkeling, scuba diving and the hands-on study of ocean life.
