What Is the Wyoming Steamboat Legacy Scholarship?

Program Status: The Wyoming Steamboat Legacy Scholarship ESA program is currently suspended.

The Wyoming Steamboat Legacy Scholarship is a statewide Education Savings Account (ESA) program that was scheduled to launch in 2025. The program provides $7,000 per student to help families customize their child’s education outside of the public school system.

ESA funds may be used for a wide range of approved educational expenses, including:

  • Private school tuition (Pre-K through high school)
  • Tutoring and educational therapies
  • Curriculum and online learning programs aligned with Wyoming standards
  • Technology
  • College or technical school courses
  • Testing fees
  • Transportation
  • School uniforms
  • Summer or after-school programs

Eligibility is divided into Pre-K and K–12 groups. For K–12 students, applicants must:

  • Be a Wyoming resident
  • Be at least 5 years old on or before August 1 of their kindergarten year
  • Be under age 21 as of August 1 of the school year
  • Not have graduated or earned a GED
  • Be unenrolled from a public school

When active, the Steamboat Legacy Scholarship ESA provides Wyoming families with flexible education funding to support private, home-based, and alternative learning options statewide.
