What Is the West Virginia Hope Scholarship?

The West Virginia Hope Scholarship is an Education Savings Account (ESA) program that provides families with greater school choice and flexibility in how their children are educated.

Through the Hope Scholarship, parents may redirect state funds that would have been spent on their child’s public school education toward approved alternatives such as private school, homeschooling, online learning programs, and other educational services.

For the 2026–2027 school year, eligible students will receive $5,435.62 in scholarship funding. Hope Scholarship funds may be used for a wide range of qualified education expenses, including MyFunScience online classes.

This flexible ESA program provides West Virginia families with expanded educational opportunities and financial support to personalize their child’s education.

How to Use Hope Scholarship Funds at MyFunScience

Our process for West Virginia families using the Hope Scholarship has recently changed.

During our sale season, MyFunScience courses may not be actively listed on the West Virginia Hope Marketplace. However, families can still use their Hope Scholarship funds for MyFunScience classes — and we are happy to assist you directly.

Each course must be individually submitted and approved before appearing on the marketplace. During high-enrollment periods and sale months, this review and publishing process can take additional time.
