What Is the LA GATOR Scholarship Program?
The Louisiana Giving All True Opportunity to Rise (LA GATOR) Scholarship Program is the state’s first Education Savings Account (ESA) program, launching for the 2025–2026 school year and replacing the Louisiana Scholarship Program.
Designed to expand school choice in Louisiana, the LA GATOR Program provides families with state-funded education accounts to help cover the cost of nonpublic education and approved academic services. The number of funded accounts each year depends on state budget approval and available school seats.
LA GATOR ESA funds may be used for a wide range of qualified educational expenses, including online classes and tutoring at MyFunScience.
Award amounts range from $5,243 to $15,253 per student, depending on eligibility:
- Up to $15,253 for students with disabilities identified under IDEA
- $7,626 for students from households earning up to 250% of the federal poverty level
- $5,243 for all other eligible students
