What Is the Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA)?

The Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) is a state-funded school choice program that allows families to use public education funds for approved educational expenses outside of the traditional public school system.

Established in 2012 and now open to all K–12 Arizona students age 5 and older, the Arizona ESA program serves more than 85,000 students statewide. Families receive an average of $7,000–$8,000 per student, with additional funding available for students with documented disabilities.

ESA funds may be used for online classes and tutoring at MyFunScience. After approval, families access their funds through ClassWallet, giving parents flexible, customizable education options while helping reduce out-of-pocket education costs.
