Is MyFunScience accredited? This is a common question for homeschool families. The short answer is no—and that’s intentional. MyFunScience is a homeschool program designed to support parent-directed education while providing high-quality, teacher-led online classes.
In homeschooling, accreditation is not required for college admissions or academic success. Instead, colleges evaluate transcripts, coursework, and test scores. This page explains how accreditation works, what it means for your student, and why many homeschool families choose flexible programs like MyFunScience.
Our mission is to support homeschooling families by offering engaging, academically strong classes while keeping parents in the primary role of guiding their child’s education. Families can use MyFunScience as part of a complete homeschool plan or alongside other curriculum choices to build a customized education.
What does that mean for my student?
- Qualified instructors: Our teachers bring strong credentials, including bachelor’s degrees in their subject areas, teaching experience, and real-world expertise. Many also hold teaching certificates, and all instructors are carefully vetted.
- Flexible homeschool support: Families can take all of their courses at MyFunScience, but many also combine our classes with other curriculum choices, creating a customized education that fits their child’s needs.
- Parent-directed education: As a homeschool program, we respect that parents—not institutions—make the final decisions about coursework, grading, and transcripts.
Why isn’t accreditation necessary?
Accreditation is primarily relevant for traditional schools that issue diplomas. In the homeschool world:
- Colleges and universities do not require an accredited curriculum. Admissions decisions are typically based on transcripts, coursework, test scores, and extracurriculars—not whether a program was accredited.
- Homeschool families rarely use a single accredited provider. Most students combine resources (classes, curriculum, co-ops, etc.), making full-program accreditation impractical.
- Parents issue transcripts and diplomas. In homeschooling, the parent functions as the school administrator.
MyFunScience can issue a transcript for high school courses taken at MyFunScience, if requested. You can also explore our Guide to the Order of Classes if you are planning your student’s next steps.
What about NCAA-approved courses?
For families with student athletes, MyFunScience offers an additional level of academic credibility. We provide 35+ core classes approved by the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) across subjects like math, science, English, history, and foreign language.
This means our courses meet specific academic standards required for students planning to compete in college athletics. Homeschool families can confidently use these classes as part of their high school plan, knowing they align with NCAA eligibility requirements.
MyFunScience can also submit transcripts directly to the NCAA when needed, helping simplify the process for families navigating eligibility requirements.
The bottom line
Instead of focusing on accreditation, we focus on what matters most: excellent teaching, meaningful learning, and supporting families in building a Christ-centered education that works for their student.
